Cruise passenger admits to dropping anchor

rick-ehlert Tampa, Florida - A California man has admitted that he dropped an anchor on a Tampa-bound cruise ship the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Rick Ehlert, 44, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., was a passenger on the MS Ryndam as it passed through international waters, while heading from Costa Maya, Mexico to Tampa. A surveillance video showed Ehlert wearing gloves, using a wrench and spending 12 minutes working to drop the 18-ton stern anchor. The Holland America ship was not damaged because the anchor did not hit the sea floor. Ehlert later admitted to being drunk, prosecutors said. He faces up to 20 years in prison.  More
