Eleven people shot at block party

Florida - A pregnant mother lost her unborn child and an 18-month-old was wounded in a hail of gunfire that erupted at a block party near Jacksonville’s downtown. The mother was one of two pregnant women among 11 people wounded when shooters opened up about 8:45 p.m. at J.S. Johnson Park at Spruce and Jackson streets in the city’s Brooklyn neighborhood. Shortly after 11 p.m. Sheriff John Rutherford said other than the unborn baby who died, he did not know if others suffered life-threatening injuries. The victims were taken to three area hospitals by ambulance or in private vehicles after the shooting broke out. At least a hundred people were at the park where DJs were playing music and people were dancing, Rutherford said. He said it was not clear what started the gunfire. “It appears there are multiple shooters shooting at each other,” he said. It all broke out inside the park, and they didn’t care that they were hitting so many people.  More
