Employees give unusual absence excuses

Chicago, Illinois – Chicago-based Web site CareerBuilder said a survey found workers have called in sick with wild excuses, including a brother kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel. One worker claimed he was unable to get to work because his 12-year-old daughter stole his car and another employee said a truck dumped flour into her convertible while she was in line at a coffee shop. Others claimed injuries from incidents including a falling refrigerator, a bite from a deer while hunting, a back injury from chasing a beaver, a broken nose from falling out of bed and accidentally drinking antifreeze.  More
