Woman accused of stealing 500 rolls of toilet paper


Tennessee - A 36-year-old Maryville woman has been accused of stealing 500 rolls toilet paper from Blount Memorial Hospital over the course of several months late last year. Hospital administrators had agreed to give Patty four months to pay back the $213 worth of toilet paper. Fla. trooper accused of writing bogus tickets

MIAMI (AP) -- A Florida Highway Patrol trooper based in South Florida has been arrested on charges of official misconduct, after authorities said he wrote hundreds of fake citations to drivers. Police: Accused shoplifters cause chaos at Walmart

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Chattanooga police said a couple they believe tried to steal a cart full of TVs and a computer caused chaos at a Walmart. According to a news release, Officer Josh Wright was off duty when he saw a man trying to force his way past a greeter with about $2,000 worth of stolen goods Sunday night. Teacher Accused of Putting a Hit on Student


Georgia - A teacher reportedly has been placed on paid administrative leave after being charged with making terroristic threats against a 16-year-old student. Randolph Forde was arrested after being accused of asking the student at Mundy’s Mill High School whether or not he was gay, threatening to hit the student and later offering another student money to kill the boy. Sheboygan teen accused of trying to eat marijuana


SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- Sheboygan prosecutors have charged a young woman with trying to eat marijuana as police pulled over the car in which she was riding. Jamie L. Salonen, 18, was charged Friday with misdemeanor marijuana possession and felony bail jumping. The criminal complaint said a trooper stopped her car after seeing the occupants weren't wearing seatbelts. It said the trooper saw Salonen move around suspiciously.....More

Pair accused of playing porn DVD at Ark. Wal-Mart


FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) -- Two Oklahoma men have been arrested for allegedly playing a pornographic DVD on display televisions at a Fort Smith Wal-Mart. Sebastian County jail records show 20-year-olds Cody Allen Sexton and Kenny Dean Andrews were arrested on a felony obscenity complaint.

Wal-Mart worker accused of beating boss with bat


NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Police in New Haven accused a Wal-Mart worker of beating an assistant manager in a store aisle with an aluminum baseball bat after getting reprimanded for the second time in a few days. Officer Joseph Avery said Tuesday that police are still looking for the 26-year-old suspect. They plan to charge him with first-degree assault and breach of peace.

Accused nude doorbell ringer pleads not guilty


REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A man suspected of appearing nude at homes and ringing doorbells is being held on $60,000 bail after pleading not guilty to a series of charges. Peter Allen Steele, who is 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 250 pounds, entered his not guilty pleas Tuesday after being charged with seven counts, including driving under the influence, evading a peace officer, indecent exposure and entering a house without permission.

Authorities say the 38-year-old Steele led San Mateo County sheriff's deputies on a car chase on July 11 that ended with him streaking into a home and then into woods near Redwood City.

Deputies say it took a Taser and two shots from a bean bag gun to bring him down.

Woman accused of running strip club in basement


LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Police investigating a noise complaint in arrested a 28-year-old woman they said was operating an illegal strip club in her basement and garage. Gwinnett County officers said they also found a sign at the home reading "1 Dollar Jello Shots" and minors drinking alcohol when they investigated on July 18.

The woman faces a misdemeanor charge of maintaining a disorderly house and remains free on $1,300 bond.

Another woman who lives with the suspect said the whole thing was just a misunderstanding. She said friends threw the suspect a party to celebrate her birthday and newly renovated home. She said that there were no strippers or underage drinking.

Police also arrested a 20-year-old guest whom they said lied about his age and was found carrying marijuana in his mouth. He has been released on $3,900 bond.

Cop accused of pulling gun while waiting for food


AURORA, Colo. – A Denver police officer has been charged with felony menacing for allegedly brandishing his gun at a McDonald's restaurant after getting tired of waiting for his food. Derrick Curtis, 29, Saunders also face charges of prohibited use of a weapon, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

An employee at the Aurora restaurant told investigators that two Denver police officers were waiting for their food at the drive-through window May 21 when one grew impatient and pulled his gun.

No one was injured.

Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson told The Denver Post that Saunders had been suspended with pay and would be put on unpaid leave once the department is formally notified of the charges.

There was no answer Monday at a phone number listed for Derrick Saunders.

Stupid News-Ohio woman, 75, accused of beating fawn to death


EUCLID, Ohio – An Ohio woman who found a fawn in her flower garden has been accused of beating it to death with a shovel. Dorothy Richardson, 75, was charged in a warrant with animal cruelty at her Euclid home near the Cleveland Metroparks Euclid Creek Reservation, a wooded park where deer, foxes and other wildlife roam.

Animal control officer Ann Mills requested the warrant. She said "everybody's very upset" about the fawn's June 15 death.

Richardson hasn't appeared in court. She told Cleveland's WKYC-TV she was afraid of the fawn and used a shovel to try to make it move. She said after it died she put it in a box and took it to the curb on trash day.

Euclid's cruelty to animals charge is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Stupid News-Tenn. couple accused of assault using Cheetos


SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – Authorities said a couple got into a fight using Cheetos. The Bedford County Sheriff's Department said a 40-year-old man and 44-year-old woman became involved in a 'verbal altercation.' Somehow, the orange puffy snacks were used in the assault.

Deputies said they were charged with domestic assault. No one was hurt.

According to the Shelbyville Times-Gazette, both posted bond of $2,500.

Stupid News-Man accused of spitting on officer's Egg McMuffin


BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. – Authorities said a man faces a felony charge after allegedly spitting on a police officer's McDonald's breakfast sandwich. Police said a 32-year-old man was working the drive-thru window at the southwest Michigan restaurant when an unidentified officer bit into an Egg McMuffin on June 3 and immediately realized something was wrong.

A police report obtained by The Herald-Palladium said the restaurant's assistant manager noted the sandwich contained a "stringy with mucus" substance. She placed the sandwich in the off-duty manager's trash bin, but said it disappeared while she phoned him.

The suspect, a parolee who spent 14 years in an Indiana prison, said he has nothing against police. He's being held in the Berrien County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

A June 23 preliminary hearing has been set.

Mom accused of duct-taping daughter's boyfriend


ADELANTO, Calif. – Authorities arrested a woman for allegedly trying to kidnap her daughter's boyfriend and haul him away to Northern California. A sheriff's spokeswoman said Tuesday that two women went to the young man's home on Saturday afternoon and tried to tie him up with duct tape.

The victim told authorities the women said they were taking him to get him away from one of the women's 21-year-old daughter. Authorities said both women were arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping.

Officials said the girlfriend was later arrested for investigation of dissuading a witness and extortion for allegedly trying to get her boyfriend to recant his statements on the kidnapping to authorities.
